PTAA Mission

Where Does Your Money Go?

The Cary Academy Parent Teacher Administration Alliance (PTAA) exists to serve as a positive and supporting element in the ongoing efforts to advance Cary Academy’s mission and philosophy. Through Alliance programs, parents are able to become involved in the school community and work collaboratively with faculty and staff to bring added dimensions to the students’ learning experiences. Funding for the PTAA’s annual operating budget is derived from the proceeds of the Annual Alliance Benefit Auction. This year, over $140,000 and thousands of volunteer hours will be given to Cary Academy through Alliance-led academic, arts, athletic, community development, and facilities enhancement programs.

• Charles M. Burdick Young Writers’ Fellowship (tuition stipend for summer writing camp)
• Junior Merit Scholarship (Cary Academy tuition stipend)
• Eighth Grade Celebration Luncheon
• Charger Cup Middle School Field Day

• Eric Himburg, Astronomy Club, New Software and Printer ($360)
• Eric Grush, Band, Specialized Instruction ($1,000)
• Matt Greenwolfe, Physics, Digital Camera ($250)
• Yiying Qiao, Orchestra, 1-week residency for Guest Musician ($700)
• Dawn Bates, 6th Grade Math, Math Program ($300)
• Sara Mizelle, Middle School, Performance by Bouncing Bulldogs Jump Ropers ($300)
• Carol Hamilton, US Speech and Debate Team, Outside Coaches ($1,000)
• Lee Leal, Student Art Club, Support Materials for Feb. Art Exhibit ($150)
• David McAllister, Girls Athletic Teams, ACL Injury Prevention Training ($140)
• Eric Moore, MS and US Wresting Teams, Wrestling Throw Dummy ($630)

Community Building Grants:

• Katy Allen/Class of 2007, support for Pizza Dinner preceding US Variety Show ($360)

• Amphitheater and Landscaping
• Dining Hall Sound System
• Middle School Basketball Courts
• SEA Outdoor Furniture and Planters

2005-06:

• Athletic Boosters – Stadium Press Box and Public Address systems (funded through donations by Chargers Club members)
